Laura freelanced with the Open University, the UK's largest distance-learning institution, in 2014-2015. She researched and created concepts for assets used in social science modules, including interactive media, infographics and data visualisations. She provided best practice guidance for faculty members on writing for the web and eLearning design. Working with faculty members and graphics/interactive developers, she helped to turn text-based material into engaging content, addressing multiple learning styles and improving retention.
Mockups were produced using Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Edge, Microsoft Excel, Google Charts, Timeline.JS and others.
The OU uses a Moodle-based VLE which is populated via XML software (Oxygen). Liaison with interactive developers was handled via Teamwork project management software.
